It is an old Greek village. Very old Greek tourists are reported to have said that the village was established when they and their father first settled in the village. It is 20 km from Süleymanpaşa.

There are historical monuments and monastery ruins in the monastery area, located on the sea shore and in the valley between two mountains.

The view of the Marmara Sea and the islands creates a wonderful view in Yeniköy, where paragliding is the best place. The economy of a village depends on agriculture and husbandry. There is a primary school in the village, but besides it cannot be used, transportation education is used. The village has drinking water network, but there is no sewerage system. There is no PTT branch or PTT agency. There is no health centers and health posts. The road that provides access to the village is asphalt and there is electricity and fixed telephone in the village. The population in 2019 is 144 people. After Tekirdağ gained the metropolitan status on December 6, 2012, all villages turned into neighborhoods.
